About Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2009. The department has always strived to maintain its high standards. Apart from the theoretical course work, the department believes that the students should have a sound knowledge in practical work. In view of the above the department offers practical courses in Computer Applications and CAD Practical, Foundry and Welding Practical ,Lathe and Drilling Practical, Metrology and Metallography Practical, Strength of Materials and Fluid Mechanics Practical, Special Machines Practice, Electrical Drives & Control Practical, Process Automation Practical, Thermal and Automobile Engineering Practical ,Life and Employability Skills Practical ,Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Practical, Machine Tool Testing and Maintenance Practical, Mechanical Instrumentation Practical ,Project Work. These labs promise to pose new and challenging problems to the students and provide the necessary knowledge. .
Students are motivated to participate in curricular and co curricular activities within and outside the institution. Mechanical engineering department produced State Ranks for each semester. Most of the students are self employed, under gone higher studies and placed in various industries.

- Apply principles of Electrical and Electronics Engineering for constructing, operating, testing and maintenance of Electrical and Electronics systems.
- Students will be able to work and implement the practical skill set in Electronics, Electrical machines, Power systems, Measurements and Instrumentation and Embedded systems.
- Basic and Discipline specific knowledge: Apply knowledge of basic mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the engineering problems.
- Problem analysis: Identify and analyze well-defined engineering problems using codified standard methods.
- Design/ development of solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.
- Engineering Tools, Experimentation and Testing: Apply modern Engineering tools and appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and Measurements.
- Practices for society, sustainability and environment: Apply technology context in context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.
- Project Management: Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities.
- Life-long learning: Ability to analysis individual needs and engage in updating in the context of technological changes

- Thermal power plant, Ennore, Chennai.
- Power Grid cooperation of India, Sriperumbudur.
- TNEB Sub Station, Kanchipuram.
- Thermal Power Plant, Mettur, Salem.
Mettur Dam, Salem.
In-plant training is regularly arranged to the students during the holidays to the industries. They can apply their knowledge gained in the institution and they know the industrial expectations which pave the way for better employment.
